Rolladen Schneider LS5

The LS5 is a single-seat glider of the Open Class.

History

It should be built in a small series of ten aircraft. Having appeared in 1981, the Schempp-Hirth Nimbus -3 and the Schleicher ASW 22, buried Walter Schneider his dream of LS5 again. The forms for this aircraft were already done, so that but a single piece was still being built. The D- 7742 was realized by Klaus Mies from Kaiserslautern in the workshop rooms Akaflieg Saarbrücken not with roller shutter Schneider, but in Amateurbau. Therefore, the first flight took place only in 1988.

The LS5 carries the registration D - 7742 and the competition code " A3 " ( Alpha three). The aircraft is now stationed at the airfield Augsburg Mühlhausen.
