Romain Sato

Romain Lebel Guessagba Sato ( born March 2, 1981 in Bimbo ) is a basketball player from the Central African Republic. At college, used primarily as shooting guard, he comes to Europe usually as a small forward for use. Since 2012, Sato stands at Fenerbahçe Ülker under contract.

Career

Sato came in early 1999 with the help of Eugène Pehoua, participants in the Olympic basketball tournament in 1988, in the United States. After his high school graduation at the Dayton Christian, he moved to Xavier University, for their team, he played in the NCAA from 2000 to 2004. In the 2004 NBA Draft he was selected at the end of the second round by the San Antonio Spurs. The following season, Sato got in the NBA due to inflammation of the patellar tendon no play time. Then he moved to Italian second division Sicc Cucine Jesi, where he became in the 2005/06 season to the player with the second best points average in the league. After he had been briefly end of the season in the Championship play-offs at FC Barcelona under contract, Sato returned to Italy, this time to Serie A club Montepaschi Siena. There he was with Siena in each year of Italian masters and reached inter alia the highest European club competition ULEB Euro League 2007 /08 the Final Four tournament, where they finished third at the end. After he was once named among others in the ULEB Euro Cup 2008/ 09 as the most effective player of the match for the player of the week, he was elected to the Lega Basket Serie A in the 2009/10 season the MVP of the main round in Serie A.

National

Already at the African Cup of Nations 2001 Sato was the outstanding player of the selection of the Central African Republic, but this only reached the 9th Place. With the national team two years later he achieved the 5th place, but played at Africa championships in 2005 and 2007 not to the Central African Republic, in his view, which he attributed to the tournament in 2007 to the too short preparation phase. However, he declared himself generally prepared to play for the team of two-time African champions. In Africa Championship 2009, he finished with the national team to 6th place.
