Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro

The Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro (Latin: Archidioecesis Cagayanus ) is a location in the Philippines Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Cagayan de Oro.

History

The Diocese of Cagayan de Oro was on January 20, 1933 by Pope Pius XI. built out of territory of the Diocese of Zamboanga. It was the Archdiocese of Cebu is a suffragan. On 3 June 1939, the Diocese of Cagayan de Oro were parts of its territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Surigao. A further transfer of territory took place on January 27, 1951 establishing the Territorialprälatur Ozamis.

On June 29, 1951, the Diocese of Cagayan de Oro was raised to an archbishopric.
