Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cambrai

The Archdiocese of Cambrai (Latin: Archidioecesis Cameracensis ) is located in northern France diocese of the Roman Catholic Church.

History

  • 580: Foundation of the Diocese of Cambrai by laying of Arras here. The diocese is under the Archdiocese of Reims. The diocese is extensive and ranges up to Brussels and Antwerp.
  • 940: After the Frankish kingdom division Cambrai falls together with the Middle Kingdom to the eastern kingdom, the later Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation
  • 1007: The bishops of Cambrai be vassals of the Holy Roman kings and emperors and the county of Cambrai. Your worldly dominion was the Bishopric of Cambrai.
