Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Piura

The Archdiocese of Piura (lat.: Archidioecesis Piurensis ) is located in northern Peru Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Piura.

History

The Diocese of Piura was born on February 29, 1940 by Pope Pius XII. with the Apostolic Constitution Ad plebis christianae out of territory of the Diocese of Trujillo built. It was then placed under the Archdiocese of Trujillo suffragan. On June 30, 1966, the Diocese of Piura was by Pope Paul VI. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Sic ut paterfamilias to an archbishopric.

The Archdiocese of Piura comprises the territory of Piura region.
