Roman Catholic Diocese of Achonry

The Diocese of Achonry ( ir: Deoise Achadh Conaire, Latin: Dioecesis Achadensis ) is a location in Ireland Roman Catholic diocese based in Ballaghaderreen ( Bealach an Doirín ) in County Roscommon. It comprises 23 municipalities in the county Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo.

History

The Diocese of Achonry was built by Pope Pelagius I in the year 560. In 1150 the diocese was Achonry the Archdiocese Tuam is a suffragan. At times it was referred to as Diocese Luighne.
