Roman Catholic Diocese of Ambanja

The diocese Ambanja (Latin: Dioecesis Ambaniaënsis ) is a location in Madagascar Roman Catholic diocese based in Ambanja.

History

Pius IX. founded the Apostolic Prefecture island of Mayotte, Nossi- Bé and Comoros on September 4, 1848 for territorial concessions, the Apostolic Prefecture of Madagascar. On 14 June 1938, she took the name, Ambanja Apostolic Prefecture on.

On March 8, 1951, she was elevated to the Apostolic Vicariate. Charged on the diocese, which was the Archdiocese of Antsiranana is a suffragan, it was with the Bull Dum Tantis on 14 September 1955. On 5 June 1975, it lost part of its territory in favor of the establishment of the Apostolic Administration of Comoros.
