Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Antsiranana

The Archdiocese of Antsiranana (Latin: Archidioecesis Antsirananensis ) is a location in Madagascar Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Antsiranana.

History

The Archdiocese of Antsiranana was posted on January 16, 1896 by Pope Leo XIII. from the Apostolic Vicariate of territory Madagascar established as Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Madagascar. The Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Madagascar was renamed on 20 May 1913 in Apostolic Vicariate Diégo - Suarez. The Apostolic Vicariate of Diégo - Suarez announced on March 15, 1923 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Apostolic Vicariate Majunga.

On September 14, 1955, the Apostolic Vicariate Diégo - Suarez was by Pope Pius XII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Dum Tantis to the diocese and the Archdiocese assumed Tananarive suffragan. The diocese Diégo - Suarez was born on December 11, 1958 by Pope John XXIII. raised to an archbishopric. On 21 May 1959, the Archdiocese Diégo - Suarez were parts of its territory from the foundation of the diocese Ambatondrazaka. The Archdiocese Diégo - Suarez was renamed on October 28, 1989 in Archdiocese of Antsiranana. On 30 October 2000, the Archdiocese of Antsiranana were parts of its territory from the foundation of the diocese Fenoarivo Atsinanana.
