Roman Catholic Diocese of Jelgava

The Diocese of Jelgava ( Latin: Dioecesis Ielgavensis, Latvian diecēze Jelgava ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Jelgava ( Jelgava ) in Latvia. Bishop since July 2011 Edvard Pavlovskis.

The Diocese of Jelgava was built on 2 December 1995 and went out of the west adjacent territorial diocese Liepaja. Its territory covers largely the Latvian region Semgallen, including Oberlettland. It is, as a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Riga and is one of three Roman Catholic dioceses in Latvia. Of the approximately 330,000 inhabitants in the diocese territory, 90,000 Catholics, 24 priests, 21 priests and three priests, and seven sisters and five friars in 58 parishes are supervised pastoral.
