Roman Catholic Diocese of Les Gonaïves

The Diocese of Les Gonaïves (Latin: Dioecesis Gonayvesensis ) is a location in Haiti Roman Catholic diocese based in Gonaïves.

History

The Diocese of Les Gonaïves was born on October 3, 1861 by Pope Pius IX. built out of territory of the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo and the Archdiocese of Port-au -Prince is a suffragan. On April 20, 1972, the Diocese of Les Gonaïves were parts of its territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Hinche. The Diocese of Les Gonaïves was placed under the Archdiocese of Cap- Haïtien suffragan on April 7, 1988.
