Roman Catholic Diocese of Malakal
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Malakal (Latin: Dioecesis Malakalensis ) is located in South Sudan, and includes the South Sudanese states of Jonglei, Unity and Upper Nile.
History
Pope Pius XI. founded the mission sui juris of Kodok, which had its seat near the town of Malakal, on 10 January 1933 annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate of Khartoum. The mission was collected on August 8, 1938 we Apostolic prefecture, which bore the name of Malakal from 14 July 1949. On December 12, 1974, the Apostolic Prefecture of the diocese was elevated.
