Roman Catholic Diocese of Mutare
The Diocese of Mutare (Latin: Dioecesis Mutarensis ) is a location in Zimbabwe Roman Catholic diocese based in Mutare.
History
Pope Pius XII. founded the Apostolic Prefecture Umtali on February 2, 1953 annexations of the Apostolic Vicariate Fort Victoria and Salisbury and the Archdiocese of San Antonio was assumed as suffragan. The pastoral care and evangelization was entrusted to the Carmelites from Ireland.
On February 15, 1957, she became a diocese, which was the Archdiocese of Salisbury assumed as suffragan levied. The current name took it on 25 June 1982.
Territory
The Diocese of Mutare comprises the districts of Chimanimani, Chipinge, Makoni, Mutare, Mutasa and Nyanga in Manicaland province.
