Roman Catholic Diocese of Myitkyina

The diocese of Myitkyina (Latin: Dioecesis Myitkyinaensis ) is a location in Myanmar Roman Catholic diocese based in Myitkyina.

History

The diocese of Myitkyina was posted on January 5, 1939 by Pope Pius XI. cessions of territory from the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Burma established as Apostolic Prefecture of Myitkyina. On 21 February 1961, the Apostolic Prefecture of Myitkyina was by Pope John XXIII. charged with the Apostolic Constitution Quod sacrum to the diocese and the Archdiocese of Mandalay is a suffragan. The diocese of Myitkyina was on August 28, 2006 from parts of its territory to the foundation of the diocese Banmaw.
