Nuevo Casas Grandes The diocese was founded on April 13, 1977 by Pope Paul VI. with the Apostolic Constitution Praecipuum animarum out of territory of the diocese of Ciudad Juárez as Nuevo Casas Grandes Territorialprälatur built. On 3 June 2000, the Nuevo Casas Grandes Territorialprälatur was elevated by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Constat praelaturam to the diocese.
