Roman Catholic Diocese of Oeiras

The Diocese of Oeiras (Latin: Dioecesis Oeirensis ) is a located in Brazil Roman Catholic diocese based in Oeiras in the state of Piauí.

History

The Diocese of Oeiras was December 16, 1944 by Pope Pius XII. built with the Papal bull Ad Domimici Gregis out of territory of the Diocese of Piauí and the Archdiocese of Belém do Pará is a suffragan. On 9 August 1952, the Diocese of Oeiras was the archbishopric Teresina is a suffragan. The Diocese of Oeiras announced on October 28, 1974 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Diocese of Picos.

On December 8, 1977, the Diocese of Oeiras changed its name to the diocese of Oeiras - Floriano. The Diocese of Oeiras - Floriano was divided on 27 February 2008 in the dioceses of Oeiras and Floriano.
