Román Golobart

Román Golobart Benet (* March 21, 1992 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish footballer who is active for the first FC Cologne in the 2nd Bundesliga for the 2013/14 season. His father is Joan Golobart, who played in the 80s for Espanyol.

Career

Golobart was born in Barcelona and raised. In August 2009, he left his boyhood club Espanyol and went abroad, when he accepted an offer from Wigan Athletic. Roberto Martínez, also originally from Catalonia and then manager of Wigan Athletic, kept the Catalans for a great talent. Although the defender was used several times in friendlies and also allowed repeated occupy a place on the bench, Golobart came in the first two seasons at no obligation stake.

For the season 2011/12 Golobart was loaned to the Scottish Premier League to Inverness Caledonian Thistle. There he was voted by the fans to the " Player of the Season ".

In August 2012, Golobart was loaned for one month in the League One to the Tranmere Rovers, came there but only to use one.

Then he returned to Wigan Athletic and completed on January 5, 2013 his competitive debut in the third round of the FA Cup against AFC Bournemouth. In the same month he attended his first game in the Premier League with a 90-minute operation against Stoke City. The final result was 2-2. Overall Golobart came up three games in the Premier League.

At the end of the 2012/13 season Golobart turned down an offer to extend the contract and transferred to 1 FC Köln. He received a three-year contract until 30 June 2016 for the second division.
