Playing career

In 1976 Gabor moved to the youth of Corvinul Hunedoara. Two years later he came into the squad for the first team, which at that time in the first Romanian League, the Divizia A, played. In his first year he came up with four inserts and had at the end of the 1978/79 season relegated to the B Divizia. Under coach Mircea Lucescu tried and failed to re- ascent. In the season 1980/81 he became the master power in the storm. With the third place at the end of de season 1981/82 and reaching the second round of the UEFA Cup, he was involved in the biggest successes Corvinuls as a player. After the departure of coach Lucescu he could no longer connect to these successes and missed in the following years to qualify for an international competition with Corvinul. The club often had to fight to end of season for the league whereabouts. Gabor remained Corvinul until 1991 faithful, before moving to Diósgyőri VTK in the Hungarian Nemzeti National Championship. After a year he returned to Hunedoara, that was now relegated to the B Divizia. Barely there he succeeded with his club in the 1992/93 season the league. He moved to league rival Unirea Alba Iulia, but already took over the winter break to a range of top-flight club Universitatea Cluj.

Gabor concluded early in 1994 once again at Corvinul Hunedoara. In the 1994/95 season he scored ten goals themselves, the climb was definitely missed in second place with 14 points behind Politehnica Timişoara. In the following season Gabor was rare for the course. In 1996, he hired at FC Inter Sibiu, who had just been relegated from the Divizia A. Rather than play along to the re-emergence, the club was bottom of the table again. Gabor left Sibiu during the winter break 1996/97 to third division Viitorul Oradea, where he finished his career in 1997.

National

Gabor played a total of 35 games for the Romanian national team. National coach Mircea Lucescu, who was Gabor's club coach at Corvinul Hunedoara same time, it first convened in November 1981 in his squad. In the World Cup qualifier against Switzerland, he came to his first international match. He was in the following years an integral part of the team, the successful qualification for the 1984 European Championship in France succeeded. There he came in the opening group game against Spain and in the third group game against Portugal for use.

After the European Championships, the appeals were rare. As part of the qualification for the 1986 World Cup he came only two inserts. At the beginning of 1986 he was in the squad for two friendlies against Egypt, where he was able to achieve his second goal of the national team in a 1-0 victory on March 2, 1986.
