The S-Bahn station Röntgental is a stop on the Berlin S-Bahn in the district Zepernick the Brandenburg municipality Panke Valley. It is located near the Berlin city limits at kilometer 16.5 of the Szczecin railway.

Location and construction

The breakpoint extends into southwest-northeast direction and is about 200 meters southwest of the transfer station road and 300 meters northeast of the border to Berlin. The nearest stations are Berlin-Buch in 2.1 kilometers away and Zepernick in 1.7 kilometers away.

The station building in Art Nouveau style is located at the northwestern end of the platform. The 171 -meter-long central platform originally had two platform tracks. Originally leading only to Bernau track is no longer present, the trains stop in both directions on the northwestern side of the platform.

The breakpoint has barrier-free access in the form of an elevator system. The entire plant is listed as a historic monument in the national list of Brandenburg.

History

On 1 May 1903, the Prussian State Railways directed a the first breakpoint in the newly created colony of villas Röntgental. Ten years later, the four-tracked expansion of the earlier twin-track railway and connected Szczecin began the separation between long-distance and suburban services. The entire route was brought into an embankment, the suburban railway stations were built. Röntgental received a building designed by Charles Cornelius and Ernst Schwartz reception building, followed by the middle platform in the Art Nouveau style. The ensemble joined the ranks architecturally into the surrounding suburban stations along the suburban route.

On August 8, 1924 held in Röntgental the first electric suburban trains on their way from Stettin Station in Berlin to Bernau. From 1 December 1930 that the trains operated under the name S-Bahn.

Due to the war came the S -Bahn in April 1945 to a standstill. As of June 21, 1945 the first steam hauled suburban trains were used, which were replaced by 13 August of the electric railcar train. The second platform track on the north west side fell at that time as war reparations to the Soviet Union. It has been restored in 1974, the course of renovation work on the superstructure, but for the remaining suburban track was removed so that the breakpoint still did a platform track. A short Ausziehgleis remained in the track trough received and served until circa 2003 as a siding for work trains.

Connection

The station is served by the S2 S-Bahn Berlin in 20 -minute intervals. There are no interchanges to other public transport.
