Ross Bleckner

Ross Bleckner ( born May 12, 1949 in New York City ) is an American painter and printmaker.

Life and work

Bleckner grew up in Hewlett, Long Iceland. He studied from 1971 to 1973 with Sol LeWitt and Chuck Close at New York University and at the California Institute of the Arts, Valencia with the master's degree. There he became friends with Peter Salle. In 1975, Mary Boone Gallery was the first exhibition of his work. With his large-scale " strip images ", it takes up in the 1980s issues of Op Art. The geometric rigor of the motifs is broken by blurring the lines and transverse streaks, resulting in a flicker.

The artist lives and works in New York and Sagaponack ( Hamptons ).
