Roßleithen is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Kirchdorf an der Krems in Traun quarter with 1882 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography

Roßleithen is located on 588 m altitude in Traun quarter. The extension is from north to south 14.7 kilometers and 11.1 kilometers from west to east. The total area is 67.5 km ². 61 % of the area is forested, 20.4% of the area is used for agriculture.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Pichl, rading and Rossleithen.

Coat of arms

Blazon: between green and green sloping main Schrägfuß, is ever a golden querrechtshin excepted scythe blade in silver a red, erect horse. The municipality colors are green, yellow and red.

History

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality ' Austria above the Enns ' attributed. During the Napoleonic Wars, the place was occupied several times. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ". Roßleithen belonged until 2012 for the judicial district Windischgarsten and since 1 January 2013 part of the judicial district of Kirchdorf an der Krems.

In 1991, the municipality had 1770 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 then 1836 inhabitants.
