Rosureux

Rosureux is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Rosureux is located at 440 m, 9 km west-southwest of Maîche and about 34 km south-southwest of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the Jura, in the deep valley of the Dessoubre, between the heights of Charmoille in the north and the plateau of Maîche in the south.

The area of ​​6.14 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The main part of the area occupied by the Dessoubre valley. The Dessoubre here flows from west to east by a maximum of 300 meters wide, flat Talniederung. The valley is flanked on both sides by steep, mostly forested slopes that are different places crossed by rock bands. To the south, the municipality's area extends up the slope on the front terrace of La Rochotte up to the heights of Bonnétage on the edge of the high plateau of Maîche. Here the highest elevation of Rosureux is achieved with 972 m.

Neighboring communities of Rosureux are Charmoille and Vaucluse in the north, Battenans - Varin and Saint- Julien- lès- Russey in the east, and Bonnétage Plaimbois du Miroir in the south and Bretonvillers and Longevelle -lès- Russey in the West.

On 1 January 2009 there was a change in the membership of the district municipality. So far, belonging to the district Montbeliard, all municipalities in the canton came to the district Pontarlier.

Attractions

The Sainte-Foy church was built from 1779 to 1781. It was in 1834 and 1952 ravaged by fire, but rebuilt afterwards. When farmstead La Rochotte is the Chapel of Our Lady of Ermites.

Population

With 79 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Rosureux is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 250 people were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the mid- 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Rosureux was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture ( livestock and dairy farming, some arable and fruit ) embossed village. Previously, the water power of the Dessoubre for the operation of an oil mill, a sawmill and a blacksmith nail was used. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. Many workers are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Saint- Hippolyte by Pierre Fontaine- les- Varans. Another road connection with Vaucluse.
