Rowland V. Lee

Rowland Vance Lee ( born September 6, 1891 in Findlay, Ohio, † December 21, 1975 in Palm Desert, California ) was an American film director, actor, screenwriter and film producer.

Life

His career in the film business he started as an actor, 1917. Three years later he made ​​his debut as a director with the film A Thousand to One, that he ended his activity as an actor again. In 1921 he wrote his first screenplay for the film What Ho, the Cook, which he also directed himself. In 1927, produced for the first time one of his own films. He did this a total of nine times, including in his most famous film Son of Frankenstein. 1945 ended his career as a director with the film Under the Black Flag, he only came afterwards with his screenplay for the film The fishermen of Galilee, 1959 in appearance. As a director, he had directed more than 50 films.

1960 Lee received a star on the Walk of Fame.
