Rudňany

Rudňany ( until 1948 slovak " Koterbachy "; German Kotter Bach, Hungarian Ötösbánya - to 1902 Kotter Bach) is a municipality in the landscape Zips in eastern Slovakia. It is located in Hnilecké Hills Mountains, a north-eastern part of the Slovak Ore Mountains, approximately 11 km southeast of Ves away.

The village was first mentioned in 1255 as Kuffurbach. In the Middle Ages the metals copper, gold and silver have been promoted within the municipality. In a second period from the 18th to the late 20th century, the mining of ore experienced a renaissance in the community.
