Rudolf Vesper

Rudolf Vesper ( born April 3, 1939 in Niehmen at Ohlau, Silesia ) is a former German wrestler in the Greco- Roman style.

Sports career

Rudolf Vesper started from 1948 to 1959 for the SG Ramsin and 1959-1972 for the ASK forward Rostock.

The Wrestling World Championships in 1963 and 1967 respectively Vesper won the silver medal. At the European Championships in June 1968, he finished fifth.

Four months later, he succeeded Vespers at the Olympic Games in Mexico City sensationally winning the gold medal. In the Ringer's European championships 1970 he finished third.

Rudolf Vesper was nine times GDR champion wrestler and Honored Master of Sports. His competition weight was 78 kg with a height of 1.78 m.

Private career

Rudolf Vesper learned the trade of carpenter. Later he worked as a sports and vocational teachers.

Vesper is married and has two sons. He now lives in Rostock, is still active in sports and is committed to the wrestling sport in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern.
