Route network

The private network Rurtalbahn part of the investment company Düren and thus 100 % of the district of Düren. However, the infrastructure is the Rurtalbahn GmbH as a railway infrastructure company (EIU ) and the railway undertakings (RUs ).

This network includes the following routes:

  • Southern Rurtalbahn: Düren - Heimbach
  • Northern Rurtalbahn: Düren - Jülich, Jülich - Linnich
  • Former Jülich circular path: Jülich - Puffendorf
  • Northern part of the curl path: Düren - Zuelpich
  • Railway - relieving Heinberg ( Rheinl )

The route Jülich - Puffendorf is currently not in operation, reactivation is not planned in the near future. On 7 June 2002, Section Jülich - Linnich the railway Julich- Dalheim reactivated. The route had been previously acquired by the Rurtalbahn. At a price of 860,000 euros, the Rurtalbahn also bought on 19 December 2002, the route Düren - Zuelpich ( flare path ) of the DB Netz AG.

On the route Düren - Jülich - Linnich the previous breakpoint Huchem - stammering was again expanded in 2011 to two kilometers to a double-track railway station. With the change of the timetables of Deutsche Bahn in June 2009 was no longer assured of the following trains in Düren in the herb Bahnhof with the previous crossing of trains. First was the closure of the operation planned by the end of 2010, but there were delays due to a longer planning approval process, so it was postponed by half a year. The design was changed a second time and the expansion finally completed the timetable change in December 2011.

Others

The Company's headquarters are located at the Kölner Landstraße in safflower Rath, which is the main and maintenance workshop in Distelrath station track technically from Düren forth across the unloading, the flange reached by train. There is also the depot for 17 RegioSprinter and the various freight locomotives.

Expansion plans

  • North of Linnich the route to be extended to the railway line Aachen -Mönchengladbach. It is still debatable whether the extension to Hückelhoven - Baal, which de facto is a rebuild would be or should be done after the neighboring Brachelen; in conversation is also an extension beyond Baal and GER after Ratheim. Because of insufficient highly rated benefit-cost ratio is a decision for the expansion, however, not expected before 2015.
  • Flare web Düren - Zuelpich - Euskirchen to be reactivated for the passenger. In conversation are through passenger trains from Bonn and Euskirchen Düren to Aachen.
  • The company wanted to to build a container station in the region Düren. There were two variants, which was the location for a four-track container station on the flange track on the municipality of Noervenich at Rommelsheim favors. For this, the flare path of Düren should be electrified until the scheduled container rail. In the environment should could settle freight forwarders. Later, it was discussed to build the station in the industrial area in Rurbenden Huchem - stammering. Due to the lower development costs, the current planning is, however, the container station at Düren Vorbahnhof to the high-speed line between Cologne - Aachen to build. Should participate in the funding and the seaports of Rotterdam and Antwerp as well as international logistics company in addition to the Rurtalbahn after ideas of local politics.

Because of the largely crossed infrastructure funding from the Federal and the State of North Rhine -Westphalia all the plans are in addition to the container station postponed for the time being.

On June 28, 2012 it was announced that the route Düren - Linnich in 2013 to be electrified for 6 million euros. The transport Rhineland is intended to take over the bulk of the cost. In addition, a calculated with 2.88 million euro expansion of the railway infrastructure between Heimbach and Linnich is planned. [ Deprecated]
