Rusk is the capital and the county seat ( county seat ) of Cherokee County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city lies at the intersection of USHighways 69 and 84, about 190 kilometers southeast of Dallas and has a total area of 17.7 km ², of which 0.1 km ² water surface.

History

The town was named after General Thomas Jefferson Rusk, a Senator and signer of the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Texas.

Demographic data
