Russo is an Italian surname as a variant of Rossi.
Origin and Meaning
It is especially prevalent in the south of Italy (now through migration also in the industrial centers in the north), while Rossi predominates in the north. He is also the second most common surname in Italy; Rossi is topped.
At least some of Russo's derive their name from the Norman Count Hugo from the Red ( Ugone il Rosso, 12th century, Sicily).
