Ryan St. Onge

Ryan St. Onge ( born February 7, 1983 in Hartford, Connecticut) is an American freestyle skier. He specializes in the discipline Aerials ( jumping). In 2009 he became world champion.

Biography

St. Onge grew first in Connecticut, and later in Colorado. At the beginning, he took up in the moguls division, until 2000, he sat entirely on the discipline Aerials. His debut in the World Cup he had at Heavenly, where he finished in 13th place on 22 January 1999. The next three seasons he played from school for reasons only partially. In 2003, he first participated in world championships.

The rise of the world leaders succeeded St. Onge in the season 2004/05. After several top 10 results in the Vorwintern he won on 9 January 2005 at Mont Tremblant his first World Cup Jumping, three weeks later was followed by another victory at Deer Valley. At the World Championship 2005 he jumped to sixth place. Similarly successful was the 2005/06 season with two World Cup victories. The 2006 Winter Olympics, however, ended with disappointing 18th place. After another victory at the beginning of winter was followed in the 2006/07 season only moderate results, the best result in the 2007/ 08 season was a third place.

Far more successful was St. Onge in winter 2008 /09. He won two more World Cup events, finishing in the discipline score to second place. The biggest success of his career, he celebrated at the 2009 World Championships in Inawashiro by winning the gold medal. In winter 2009/10 St. Onge did not come as a 13th place out in the World Cup. The best result of the season, he scored at the Olympic Winter Games in 2010, where he narrowly missed a medal in fourth. In the 2010/11 season he has so far achieved a podium finish in the World Cup.
