Ryanggang Province
Ryanggang -do is a province in North Korea. It was created in 1954 by splitting off from the provincial Hamgyŏng - namdo. The provincial capital is Hyesan.
Geography
The province is bordered on the north by the People's Republic of China, to the east by the province Hamgyŏng - pukto, to the south by the province Hamgyŏng - namdo and to the west by the province Chagang -do.
History
On September 9, 2004, there was a large explosion in the region Ryanggang -do. This was interpreted by some sources as nuclear weapons test, the North Korean government denies this but from.
