Sabancı family

The Sabancı family in addition to the Koç one of the richest Turkish industrialist families. Almost all companies in Turkey with the suffix -SA belong to the Sabancı Holding. The holding located 80% owned by the family is according to own data from 66 companies.

Known for its modern Istanbul Sabancı the Twin Towers at the entrance of Istanbul's Levent business district in the Beşiktaş district are.

Formation and development

Hacı Ömer Sabancı company founder (1906-1966), a semi- illiterate from Kayseri, started his career in the early 1920s in Adana in the cotton trade. He benefited indirectly from the genocide of the Armenians by the elimination of the Armenians and their competition. In Adana Hacı Ömer involved in the government-sponsored acquisitions of minority businesses. Later Ömer expanded into other industries, including the cement and food industries.

Haci Ömer Sabanci son and successor Sakıp Sabancı (1933-2004) was one of the greatest patrons of the arts in Turkey and had a significant collection of Ottoman calligraphy. The bulk of his art collection is in - Sakıp Sabancı Museum ( Sakıp Sabancı Muzesi) in Istanbul to visit.

Other members of the family are the entrepreneurs Güler Sabancı ( born 1955 ) and Sevil Sabancı (born 1973 ).
