Sádaba Castle

The Castillo de Sádaba is a castle in Sádaba, a municipality in the province of Zaragoza of Aragon ( Spain) Autonomous Region, which was built in the 13th century. The castle on a rocky platform is a listed building ( Bien de Interès Cultural ).

History and Description

The castle is located in the border region of Cinco Villas between Aragon and Navarre. The walls of the plant extend to a rectangular area of ​​38 by 30 meters. The high, uniform built walls recall the construction of the Cistercians. The castle has seven rectangular towers, which are provided with small twin windows and loopholes. The thick walls are built of perfectly processed and arranged ashlar. The main gate is offset inwardly and is protected by two flanking towers. Remains of a chapel and a small residential building in the courtyard are still present.
