The Saeima is the parliament of the Republic of Latvia.

It consists of a chamber with 100 seats. The members of the Saeima are determined in free proportional representation. Parties which gain at least 5% of the votes cast, pull into the Saeima. Elections to the Saeima every four years, on the first Saturday, conducted in October. By way of derogation found the last elections because of a referendum on 17 September 2011. Saeima 1920-1934

On November 18, 1918, the Latvian People's Council declared as a transitional parliament, the Republic of Latvia for independent.
