Sage Rosenfels

Sage Rosenfels ( born March 6, 1978 in Maquoketa, Iowa ) is a former American professional American football player at the position of quarterback. He played in some clubs in the National Football League ( NFL ), but usually only as a backup. He most recently played for the Minnesota Vikings, where he was released before the 2012 season and retired from professional sports.

Career

College career

The highlight of Rosenfels college career was winning the Insight.com Bowl 2000. He was awarded both the Bowl and team internally as offensive MVP.

NFL Career

Sage Rosenfels came in the 2001 NFL Draft. He was selected in the fourth round as a total of 109 players from the Washington Redskins. As only the third quarterback this season he came to no use.

Shortly before the 2002 season, he was traded to the Miami Dolphins for a seventh- round draft pick. In Miami, he prevailed and was from then on to the advanced permanent staff. A memorable game he delivered in 2005, when he came against the Buffalo Bills with the score at 3:23 into the game and could turn the game on 24:23. However, the Dolphins did not renew the contract with Sage Rosenfels.

In March 2006, the Houston Texans Sage Rosenfels committed. He took over the role of the second quarterbacks. In the game against the Tennessee Titans, he succeeded almost again a large gap. After the Texans already were 3:21 back, Rosenfels came into play. With three touchdowns thrown, he led his team approach to 22:28 before the game ended with a victory for the Titans. In spring 2007, his newspaper Sporting News predicted the breakthrough in the 2007 season. Contrary to this prediction, he shared with Matt Schaub the regular place, had four wins in five games, however, the better statistics.

The opening game of the 2008 season against the Indianapolis Colts was the low point in a career Rosenfels. The Texans led in the last quarter already 27:17 when he returns led the Colts with two fumbles and an interception on the road to victory. Indianapolis won the game with 31:27 and Sage Rosenfels was due to the drawn in this game violation for the following games from. In total he scored in three seasons with the Houston Texans as a starting quarterback six victories in four defeats.

The Minnesota Vikings announced in February 2009, the commitment of Rosenfels. In return, the Texans got a fourth- round draft pick. After the signing of Brett Favre he was, however, only the third quarterback behind backup Tarvaris Jackson.

In early September, he moved along with Darius Reynaud to the New York Giants, where he got on illness no chance. In 2011 he moved back to the Miami Dolphins, but still released him during the season. Also during this season obliged the Minnesota Vikings quarterback, where he did before the 2012 season the squad cut fell victim. Then Rosenfels stepped back from professional sports.
