Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre

Saint -Pé -de- Bigorre ( Occitan: Sent PER) is a commune in the Hautes -Pyrénées, in the Midi -Pyrenees. It is located in the arrondissement of Argelès -Gazost and is the capital of the Canton Saint -Pé -de- Bigorre.

Geography

Saint -Pé -de- Bigorre has 1251 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) to 43.44 square kilometers and is located about nine kilometers west of Lourdes and about 23.5 kilometers southwest of Tarbes in the Bigorre on the Gave de Pau. Through the municipal area leads the former Route nationale 637 (now D937 ). The station of Saint- Pé -de- Bigorre is located on the Toulouse -Bayonne railway line.

Attractions

Besides the impressive Church of Saint- Pierre, the (or Saint -Pé de Gayres ) listened to the Benedictine Abbey of Saint -Pé -de- Bigorre of 1022, the caves of Bétharram are publicly available.
