Salomon Lefmann

Salomon Lefmann ( born December 25, 1831 in Telgte, Westphalia, † January 14, 1912 in Heidelberg ) was a German philologist.

Lefmann attended the Jewish school in his hometown. He studied at the Universities of Münster, Heidelberg, Berlin and Paris (Ph.D. in Berlin 1864); In 1866 he became a Privatdozent, 1870 Associate Professor of Sanskrit in Heidelberg.

He was also active for the German spelling reform as well as in the Jewish community and was also President of the Poor Relief Association tzedakah.
