Salyan District, Azerbaijan
Salyan is a rayon in Azerbaijan. Capital of the district is the town of Salyan.
Geography
The rayon has an area of 1,811 km ². Near course Enge is a volcano of the same name. The landscape consists mostly of steppe, in the east of the Shirvan National Park stretches.
Population
The district had 2009 121.400 inhabitants. This spread across 16 settlements.
Economy
In the north there are the oil fields of course narrowness and Karabaghli. These are operated by the Salyan Oil Company.
Culture
In Rayon there are several archaeological sites, such as the necropolis of Marimli and Gursanga or the ruins at Nohudlu and Mahmudabad.
Traffic
The city is connected via the M3, which runs from Baku to the Iranian border to the Azerbaijani national road network. Due to the capital the railway line leading to the south of Azerbaijan.
