Sam & Dave

Sam & Dave were an American soul duo. They were one of the first successful duo and are considered characteristic for the Soul of the 1960s, particularly the Memphis Soul.

Career

Samuel "Sam" David Moore ( born October 12, 1935 in Miami) and David "Dave" Prater ( born May 9, 1937 in Ocilla, Oregon, † April 9, 1988 in Sycamore, Georgia) began their Sangeskarrieren in gospel choirs. In King Hearts Club in Miami, they met for the first time and were there in 1961 for the first time together. The club manager became their manager. 1962 released their first album, Sam & Dave.

1965 joined the duo to Atlantic Records. For political reasons, but their albums were produced and recorded, which had a contract with Atlantic Records, Stax Records.
