Samet Aybaba

Samet Aybaba (2013 )

Samet Aybaba ( born September 3, 1955 in Adana) is a Turkish football coach and former football player.

Playing career

He began his career at Iskenderunspor. Then Aybaba changed in the season 1977/78 to Beşiktaş Istanbul. He played there as a defense and midfield. He played 334 games for Beşiktaş and scored 7 goals. He won two championships, a Presidents Cup, a prime minister Cup and two cups of Turkish Sports Journalists' Association. He resigned after the end of the 1987/88 season back.

Coaching career

He coached clubs like MKE Ankaragucu, Kayseri Erciyesspor, Vanspor, Adana Demirspor, Gaziantepspor, Trabzonspor and BB Ankaraspor. Aybaba won twice as a coach with the Turkish Cup against Trabzonspor Gençlerbirliği Ankara.

The 2012/2013 season coached Aybaba Beşiktaş Istanbul as head coach. At the end of the season, he finished with his team to 3rd place. His contract was terminated on May 27, 2013, and Aybaba signed for season 2013/14, a one-year contract with Medical Park Antalyaspor. After he had slipped with this club in early March 2014 in the drop zone, he resigned from his post.
