Samir al-Rifai

Samir ar - Rifa ʿ i (Arabic سمير الرفاعي, DMG Samīr ar - ʿ ī Rifā; * 1901 in Safed, northern Palestine, † October 12, 1965 in Amman ) was six times Prime Minister of Jordan.

Life

Samir al- Rifai was the father or grandfather of the Jordanian Prime Minister Zaid ar - Rifa ʿ i and Samir Rifai. Ar - Rifai studied at the American University in Lebanon. In 1924 he directed the Office of the Prime Minister and in 1933 he became its secretary. The emir Abdallah ibn Husain I. appointed him in 1941 to the first interior minister, then prime minister. From 15 October 1944 until 19 May 1945, he was Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Transjordan. The same function he carried out in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on 4 February 1947 to December 28, 1947, December 4, 1950 to July 25, 1951, from January 8, 1956 to 22 May 1956 of 18 May 1958 to May 6, 1959 and 27 March 1963 to 21 April 1963.
