Nuufolau Joel (Joe) Seanoa ( born March 17, 1979 in Orange County, California) is an American professional wrestler. He is better known by his ring name Samoa Joe and currently occurs for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling on.

Career

Seanoas family founded in the United States, a Polynesian dance troupe called Tiare Productions. He had his first stage appearance at the opening ceremony of the 1984 Summer Olympics at the age of 5 years. He was active in his youth primarily in judo and football.

In September 1999, he began his wrestling career as the first graduate of the now-defunct West Coast Dojo of UIWA. He trained under the direction of Cincinnati Red Only a short time after his debut Seanoa signed a contract with Ultimate Pro Wrestling ( UPW), a former farm league of World Wrestling Entertainment ( WWE). Joe won the UPW Heavyweight Championship. After his time in the league Seanoa approached for Pro Wrestling ZERO -ONE in Japan and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla in Southern California.

Ring of Honor

Seanoa debuted in Ring of Honor ( ROH) Glory By Honor in October 2002. Seanoa impressed the fans immediately with his intense style that would, for example, pass through unusually hard solid blows more of an MMA fighter as a wrestler.

After a few months in the promotion, he was ROH World Champion by defeating Xavier on 22 March 2003 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at Night of the Champions. He retained the title for 21 months before he lost it on 26 December 2004 at Final Battle 2004, Aries. Shortly after losing the title he won the ROH Pure Championship Jay Lethal. In August 2005 he had to leave again to Nigel McGuiness.

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling

On June 19, 2005 Seanoa debuted in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA ) in the Pay -Per-View Slammiversary. At Turning Point December 11, 2005 Seanoa defeated AJ Styles and won its TNA X-Division Championship. At Destination X 2006, there was an Ultimate X match between Seanoa, Christopher Daniels and Styles. Seanoa lost his title because Daniels pinned Styles. A week before Lockdown on April 23, won the 2006 Seanoa again the X Division Championship in a match against Daniels, but he lost it two months later at Senshi after he pinned in a Three- Way Match Sonjay Dutt.

The third title win was followed on 19 June 2007, when he defeated the previous champion Jay Lethal and Chris Sabin. On July 15, 2007 Victory Road Seanoa also won still the TNA World Tag Team Championship from Team 3D in a match in which also the World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle was involved, where the only pinned his title loses. Then he held alone the tag titles. Both title he lost to Angle on 12 August of the same year at Hard Justice in a match in which all the titles of TNA were at stake, held by Seanoa and Angle.

On April 13, 2008, the big event Lockdown Seanoa won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship from Kurt Angle. This he lost October 12, 2008 at Bound for Glory Sting. On August 16, 2009 at Hard Justice, he won for the fourth time the TNA X Division Championship from Homicide. The title he lost October 8, 2009 at TNA iMPACT! an Amazing Red

At Against All Odds 12 February 2012 Seanoa won together with Magnus the TNA World Tag Team Championship Crimson & Matt Morgan. They lost the title on May 13, 2012 in Sacrifice to Christopher Daniels and Kazarian. On 27 September 2012, he defeated Mr. Anderson at Impact Wrestling and won the vacant TNA Television Championship. The title he lost on December 6, 2012 to Devon.
