Sandokan - The Tiger of Malaysia is a mini TV series from 1976 based on the eponymous fictional character of Emilio Salgari.

Content

In the 19th century in what is now Malaysia Sandokan fights, the last survivor of a ruling family, as a pirate and his followers against the English, in particular against the ruthless James Brooke, who is responsible for the murder of his family. The character of James Brooke is based on the English adventurer and the first White Raja of Sarawak, James Brooke. Sandokan leads a life as a pirate on the island Mompracem and fighting against the colonial masters. His faithful companion is the Portuguese Yanez de Gomera. Through the love of Marianna, the niece of the representative of the East India Company Lord Guillonk to Sandokan goes several times in the danger of being asked by the British. After a few unsuccessful attempts Sandokan, Marianna - with their consent - to kidnap, he finally succeeds. They marry and live happily for a year. It is followed by more and more people Sandokan. Then the cholera breaks out on Mompracem and decimated a large part of the population. When shortly thereafter taking place attack of the English, the island was conquered and Marianna dies. Continuations

This film represents the sequel mini- series Sandokan (1976 ) with Kabir Bedi, who ran with great success in Italy and Germany. However, this film was never into German television. In addition, in 1996 a further mini- series were filmed The Return of Sandokan with Kabir Bedi. Then in 1998 there were still an offshoot "The Son of Sandokan ", also with Kabir Bedi.
