Sankt Bernhard, Thuringia
St. Bernard is a municipality in the district of Hildburghausen in Thuringia.
Geography
The municipality belongs to the administrative community Feldstein. The administrative headquarters are in the town Themar.
Location
St. Bernard is located south of Beinerstadt on the St. Bernharder limestone plateau on stony and barren soil. The height above sea level varies between 380-470 meters. Until the border between Bavaria and Thuringia it is not far.
History
On May 25, 956, the village was first mentioned. Rule default, the location in the Official Themar first belonged to the county of Henneberg, after 1583 to various Saxon duchies and 1826-1918 of Saxe -Meiningen. In 1920 he came to Thuringia. St. Bernard was in 1616 affected by witch hunts. Apollonia Erck was caught in a witch trial.
