Sant'Angelo Le Fratte

Sant'Angelo Le Fratte is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1425 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Potenza, Basilicata. It borders the municipalities of Savoia di Lucania, Brienza, Tito and Sasso di Castalda and to the province of Salerno (Campania ) with the communities Caggiano and Polla. Sant'Angelo Le Fratte is part of the Comunità montana Melandro.

History

From 1430 to 1818 the town was the seat of the diocese of Satriano. 1980 Sant'Angelo Le Fratte was hit hard by an earthquake ( terremoto dell'Irpinia ) affected. The damages are completely fixed today.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms consists of a blue plate on which the image of the winged Archangel Michael can be seen. He holds a sword in his hand, which he has against the devil, who is at his feet, directed.
