São Cristóvão is a city in Brazil, in the northeast of the state of Sergipe. São Cristóvão has 78,864 inhabitants ( 2010 census ) and an area of ​​approximately 437 km ². It is located about 20 km southwest of Aracaju, the capital of the state.

The city was founded in 1590 and is the fourth oldest city in Brazil. Until 1855 it was the capital of the state of Sergipe, Aracaju before the new capital was founded.

The São Francisco Square ( the Francis Square) was declared in 2010 a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the heart of the city.
