Origin and Meaning

The name refers generally to the biblical figure Sarai (Hebrew: שָׂרַי ) back (Gen 11,29 EU), Abraham's wife, the Elohim (God) in Sara (Hebrew: שָׂרָה ) was renamed (Gen 17,15 EU ). It is regarded as one of the matriarchs of Israel.

The name Sarah means princess or mistress, even princess. In the Ugaritic and Aramaic religion of the moon god as well as the morning star was worshiped by the name Sahra or Sarah.
