Sauvigney-lès-Pesmes

Sauvigney -lès- Pesmes is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Sauvigney -lès- Pesmes situated at an altitude of 204 m above sea level, 3 km north of Pesmes and about 35 km west of the city of Besançon (air line). The village extends to the south of the department in which Saôneebene on the village stream Bief Rouge north of the valley of Ognon, on the southern edge of Gros Bois.

The area of ​​6.35 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the lower Ognon Valley. The central part of the area occupied by the lowland of Bief Rouge, which provides for drainage southwest to Ognon. From the alluvial plain, which is on average 195 m and is used predominantly agricultural, the community area extends northward to the plateau about 20 m higher. This is taken from the extensive forest of Gros Bois. At 234 m is reached on a hill east of the village is the highest elevation of Sauvigney -lès- Pesmes.

History

In the Middle Ages Sauvigney belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Pesmes. Ecclesiastical was under Sauvigney the Hospitallers Coming of Montseugny. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. In the 17th and 18th century a blast furnace was operated. Today Sauvigney -lès- Pesmes is a member of the 18 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes du Val de Pesmes.

Population

With 172 inhabitants ( 2006) Sauvigney -lès- Pesmes is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the range of 160 to 240 people, a significant decline in population was recorded mainly during the 1970s. In recent years, however, a slight population growth was observed again.

Economy and infrastructure

Sauvigney -lès- Pesmes was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. The village has good transport links. It lies on the main road D475 which leads from Dole via Pesmes to Gray. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 19 km. Further road links exist with La Résie -Saint -Martin and Aubigney.
