Scaled Composites

Scaled Composites is a U.S. company, the aircraft prototype developed. The company is located in Mojave, California, at the local Mojave Air & Space Port.

History

The company was founded in 1982 by Burt Rutan, a renowned aviation and aerospace engineer. In 1974, he had already founded the company Rutan Aircraft Factory. Since 2007, Scaled Composites is owned by Northrop Grumman.

Vice President of the company was temporarily Michael Melvill, the first pilot of SpaceShipOne. Steve Fossett, who has made ​​a name with many record flights, was also co-owner of the company. Burt Rutan left the company on 31 March 2011, but is still out on their website as Emeritus.
