Schellenbeck

The Schellenbeck is a 2.107 km long river in the city of Wuppertal District Oberbarmen. He is a right tributary of the Black creek, which in turn is a right tributary of the river Wupper.

For the name of the watercourse tautology Schell Bach stream is also often used. (Beck is the Low German word for stream ).

The creek is named for the Schell Becker Road, the district on this street is called also " Schellenbeck ".

Etymology

The etymological origin is not fully understood. After an interpretation of the name part is " ringing " of " askance " ( wrong ), which refers to a topographic situation. According to another interpretation is " ring " of bright sound (noise of the flowing creek water). According to another interpretation is " ringing " of " verschellen " so that is a pronouncement of judgments by the " Schill " ( Chief Justice ) meant. Topography

The creek rises to around 258 meters sea level in a small grove in Nächstebreck -West. History
