Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck

The Ducal House of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg -Beck was a branch line of the branch of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg out of the house of Oldenburg. It was founded by Duke August Philipp. The branch of the family took its name from the lying near Good wages Haus Beck, which belonged to the first duke. Although the family members received the ducal title and rank, but had in Schleswig and Holstein only inheritance and had no sovereign lands.

From the family went in 1825 with rental of the title by King Frederick VI. the younger line out of the house of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Glücksburg. The first duke of this branch was Friedrich Wilhelm. This line is now mostly known for her ancestral castle of Schloss Glücksburg is home Glücksburg, its members include, among others, the Norwegian King Harald V, Queen Sophia of Spain and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
