The Schlüchtern station is above the city Schlüchtern on the Kinzig Valley Railway in Hesse.

History

The station was opened ( road ) of the Kinzig Valley Railway on December 15, 1868 with the opening of the section of Neuhof- Steinau. The Kinzig Valley Railway is part of the first Hessian, later Prussian railway project Frankfurt- Bebra railway.

Tracks

The station has four platform tracks, a house, an island and a side platform. The main platform ( platform 1) is exclusively served by the regional rail trains on the relation Schlüchtern - Jossa - Gemünden -Würzburg Hbf that begin and end here. The central platform ( tracks 2 & 4) serves the regional express trains of the relation Frankfurt- Fulda. The side platform (track 5) is rarely used. About 3 km east of the station of Schlüchterner tunnel begins by Distelrasen.

Reception building

The stately reception hall of the station from 1868 is today a cultural monument under the Hessian Monument Protection Act. There is a varied Typenbau on the hillside above the town south of the tracks. The two-story brick building has an H-shaped floor plan with completely symmetrical designed facade. The goods shed is preceded west. The shelters for the pedestrian underpass of steel and glass with shapes of Art Nouveau are from 1910.

Traffic

Schlüchtern is located in the tariff area of the Rhine -Main Transport Association. The train station and is served by a regional rail line, a regional express line and a long-distance line.
